Welkom

An old story about Takara

A while ago, on Februari 5 2014, I bought a Takara navigation system (GP37B) with lifetime maps. As requested I filled in a web form to be able to update the maps. I got a email from Takara that they received my data. And then they went silent. I sent emails to know how and when I would have an map update. I already sent more then 20 emails and besides of the "succesful mail delivery reports" I had the honour of receiving 4 answers. The last email they sent me was like this:

Hello

I know the updating don’t be sending yet. You need to wait.

Best regards

So, now it is for more than two years and a half (almost 3, now)  that I am waiting for updates. The support is nonexistent.  95% of the emails sent to support are not answered. And if you get an answer, it is to ask about the data that you sent them through the web form and which you sent them already several times. People that are giving support are completely incompetent. No help at all. No updates. Sorry.

So, a wise lesson:

Never

buy

Takara

There is a solution: I installed a recent version of IGO Nextgen on a SD card. The device will boot (WIN CE, I think) and ask which executable should be used for navigation. Fill in the executable on the SD card and it works.
